Robert's obituary

Robert (Bob) William Broach, age 62 of Wasilla, Alaska passed away on February 27, 2024 in the comfort of his home. Born in Anchorage, Alaska on June 7, 1961 to John and Martha Broach, he was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Chugiak High School in 1979 and obtained a degree in Refrigeration and Heating from the Mat-Su College. Bob started his career at Anchor Appliance Repair in 1982, dedicating the next decade to honing his craft. In 1982 Bob married his wife Nancy and they settled in Eagle River where they welcomed their two children Jacob and Breanna. In 1993 Bob took his expertise to the North Slope, working as an Appliance Technician for Nana Management Services for 27 years. In 1995 Bob and Nancy purchased a home in Wasilla, where they raised their children and built cherished family memories.

Bob’s diverse interests and passions brought him joy and fulfillment in various ways. He had a talent for solving Cryptogram puzzles, relishing the challenge and sharing the quotes with his loved ones. Gardening was another love of his, showcasing his green thumb in nurturing plants and finding peace in the process.

His curiosity led him to explore new skills and knowledge, particularly in understanding how things functioned, he prided himself on being able to troubleshoot and fix things. Bob enjoyed the creative process from soap making and tying flies to building RC airplanes.

Fishing was Bob’s ultimate passion, every August he could be found at the river reeling in Silvers. He took pride in preserving his catch through canning and smoking, adding his unique touch to each batch.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy of 41 years, his son Jacob Broach, daughter Breanna Broach-Marquiss, grandson Alden William Marquiss, sister Sandra Brooks, brother John Broach, nephew Jason Broach and nieces Amy Fredrick, Christina Brooks, Jasmine Deschaine and Treasea Wolf. He is preceded in death by his father, John Broach, his mother Martha Broach, and brother James Broach.

Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Bob are invited to a graveside service at Sacred Valley Cemetery, located at 2671 S. Bills Way in Wasilla on Tuesday, July 9th at 2:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life at the Menard Memorial Sports Center under the pavilion from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite animal rescue group.
