Blanche and I were playmates at a very early age in Watertown, NY, and although both our families moved to other cities before kindergarten, Blanche and I managed to stay in touch by snail mail until we were about 16. Then we lost touch, but I never forgot her or her family, including her wonderful grandparents who lived right next door in the other half of the duplex occupied by Blanche and her family. Her Grampa Charlie and her Gramma Minnie were such kindly people. I remember her Grampa Charlie trudging home after a long day hauling a big leather mailbag on his shoulder.
The last time I saw Blanche was at Henderson Harbor, NY where she and her family were vacationing. I was living at Rural Hill near Woodville at he time and so was not far from Henderson Harbor. Blanche invited me to spend an afternoon with her at the harbor and we went out on the water in a rowboat. (She was adventurous as I'm sure you well know.) It was fun getting reacquainted after not seeing each other since we were little children. Through the years, I have wondered what ever happened to her and how her life turned out. The last letter I sent to her at 141 Truesdale Ave. came back unopened and marked undeliveralbe. So now, here I am in my 70's and, just now, I Googled Blanche's name as I knew it to be years ago, on a long shot. To my dismay, up popped her obituary. I send my sincere condolences.
It was comforting, though, to read all the wonderful things her family and friends had to say about her. There is no doubt she surely did have a very successful and rewarding life. I am happy so many people loved her so much. I wish I could have reconnected with her once more, but it just wasn't meant to be I guess.
I have a snapshot of Blanche and me together in front of my house on Academy Street when we were 3 or 4 years old. I would be happy to share it with you if you like. I have a scan of that picture in my photo file, but I would rather send the picture to you personally instead of putting it out on the internet if that would be okay. Just let me know.
P.S. You look very much like your mother.

In Memory of Blanche,
Kris and I first met Blanche about 40-years ago in Imperial Beach, she was beautiful! Those were the days for sure, she was a Navy mother and wife sacrificing for our country as all military wives do. While her sailor was at sea, or working late for days on end as we so often did, Blanche shouldered the responsibility of raising her children; Laura and Jay. Life in those days was not easy, pay was low, responsibility great, so many times holding down the fort all by herself until reinforcements arrived. She “is” and was strong, caring, and protective, a true “Elk.” Blanche has always had an unconditional love for family, God and country. Like the beautiful butterfly flapping her wings the many things she set in motion will continue to flourish well beyond all our days…with the forces of love and compassion. She may not be here in the flesh; we all know she with us in spirit. Her consciousness abounds throughout the universe; she is with God. Her sacrifices and humanitarian contributions, her love of family, God and country should never be underestimated. She was, and always will be a force! Our hearts go out to her husband, children, her sailor, and those loved ones she leaves behind.
God Bless Blanche, God Bless America!
We Love you young lady!

I have such fond memories knowing Blanche at Marshall. Have thought of her often...

We lived on the same street but barely knew each other. I am one of eleven children while she was one of two, and a girl to boot. Her brother was older than me so I spent no time at her house other than collecting for my morning paper route. That was sixty years ago! A few months ago I stared a group on Facebook called TRUESDALE STREET. Blanche commented often in that site so I finally was able to get to know her better. What a fine person she was!

Blanche and I lived in the same neighbor and went to Grammar and High School together. She would come to my house and my mom always made sure we ate. She was such a sweet person and great friend. I was glad that she was able to make it to our 50th Class Reunion. It was great catching up with each other and we would stay connected thru facebook. I will truly miss her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Blanche was a true friend and High School classmate. She will be missed greatly by all of us that had the
privilege of knowing her.

My earliest memory of Blanche was a morning when our Mom's arranged for us to play together at her house. We were preschoolers and most of the other neighborhood kids were off to school. She was warm and friendly and fun. She lived at the bottom of Truesdale St and my family lived halfway up the hill. There were lots of kids in the neighborhood due to big families being the norm. We often played in large groups- Red Rover, jump rope, hop scotch, hide n seek etc. Since Blanche went to public school and I attended a Catholic school it wasn't until high school that I regularly saw her at school. Skip ahead many years - past jobs, marriages, children and even grandchildren and I found out that Blanche was living in Florence, Oregon. My daughter lives in nearby Eugene so we reconnected during my last 2 trips. We had dinner in an oceanside restaurant, walked and drove around Florence, visited in her home, played with her dogs, drank pink wine in a charming spot and spent time with Jeff who gave me a tour of the golf course where he works. We had plans to meet again this October and I was so looking forward to more time with Blanche. Sigh . . . may she rest in peace.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I went to JMHS with Blanche. We didn't see much of each other except at reunions but have stayed in touch on Facebook the past few years. I loved hearing about the new puppy, and we all put in our two cents about the search and choices.
She was a genuine, lovely person. Her kindness and love showed through everything I saw her do. Facebook has a way of connecting us all. It allows us windows into the person's life, family, and sense of humor. It has been a gift to become reacquainted thanks to the internet.
She will be missed by all. Blessings for you to hold her closely in your hearts always. I know I will.

Blanche and I first met at school #40 and continued our friendship through high school. We lost touch but reconnected at our class reunion. I loved hearing about her life on Facebook, especially about her new puppy and she always commented on my posts. Gone too soon.
