I cannot believe that I’ll never hear the ping of Blair’s texts or the enchantment of her conversation. To see again her smile and her beautiful face. She changed my life (for the better) and I will be forever thankful of that.
Blair was not always easy, but if you rode her rollercoaster you came out a richer person. She was warm, sweet and smart. And wonderfully magical.
I’m still amazed at how much she knew about music and films. She taught me much, and I hope vice-a-versa. Blair introduced me to Cat Power, another life changer. Sitting together we watched a Burt Bacharach special and she knew the songs. She could bring up obscure artists like Captain Beefheart and Os Mutantes. How could she know these things? And the very special song that she chose to be “our” song, which I shall always cherish. There’s so much music we still needed to share and discover, so much life, I can only imagine what if…
Blair cheated death so many times that I believed she would outlive me. Now, what to do? Without her hours-long phone/Facetime calls (never boring) and the (sometimes) pinging texts? We could fade in and out of each other’s lives and then connect again as if we had never drifted.
One is lucky to meet someone like Blair in life. I’m thankful for every moment we shared.
Perhaps she has peace now. And so, we all have to find our way without her.
