Birgit's obituary

Birgit Dittmar Slivensky was born on March 22, 1942 in Königsberg, Germany. She passed away on September 18, 2025 at her residence in East Lansing, MI. She was the only child of Walter Dittmar & Marianne Mehmke. Birgit grew up in Staubing, Germany.

On August 28th, 1959 she married Frank Bosnak and they immigrated to the United States. Shortly thereafter Frank and Birgit welcomed the birth of their twins Sandra and Barbara. Birgit later married Don Slivensky and in 1971 welcomed the birth of her third daughter, Tanja.

After raising her children she earned a certificate in massage therapy. She was passionate about her career and cared deeply for her clients. Birgit enjoyed gardening, traveling and teaching her daughters activities she would rather not do, such as cooking and sewing. She had a loving, generous, and enthusiastic personality that drew people to her. She loved to laugh and wanted to be included in every conversation.

Birgit came to know the Lord as her personal savior later in life and spent much of the following years studying, praying and worshiping Jesus with her church family at New Hope in Haslett.

Birgit is survived by her loving children, Sandra (Craig) Morse, Barbara (Dave) Richards, Steven Eckert, and Tanja (Rick) Brady. Grandchildren, Brandon (Liz) Morse, Heidi (Gabe) Lopez, Nicholas Brady, & Ingram Brady. Great Grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Courtney & Sarah Morse, Easton, Ella, & Emerson Lopez. She is preceded in death by Frank Bosnak, Donald Slivensky and grandsons Justin Morse & Patrick Buchanan.

A burial service to honor and celebrate Birgit's vibrant life and accomplishments will be held on November 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Schoolcraft Township Cemetery, 333 W Hwy. St., Vicksburg, MI 49097. This will be a short, informal service directed by family. All are welcome to attend.
