Billy's obituary
Billy grew up on Pine Mountain. He went to Locust Fork high school where he was one of the best defensive lineman on the football team. He was very passionate about football. Alabama was his favorite team and he was their biggest fan. Billy was a truck driver for many years, which he absolutely loved to do. His nickname was ‘Left Lane' because he was always flying in his 18 Wheeler, hitting the left lane to speed past the rest. He was forced to quit driving when he was diagnosed with kidney failure and put on a transplant list. This changed his life dramatically but he remained that same huge hearted, selfless man that was the best friend you could ever hope to have. He managed to stay positive in the face of it all, continuing to be involved with his church and helping others as much as possible. He would give you the shirt off his back if it was needed. He had a passion for food and loved trying new things that he’d never had. He loved to tell stories about his past. He always had something to say, no matter the subject. There was never a dull moment around Billy. We will all miss Billy very much but we take solace knowing he’s no longer struggling or in pain and he’s been reunited with his mom, which he spoke of often.
A memorial service will be held at One Way Outreach Ministries in Cleveland on July 11th 2021. Visitation will be at 2:00-2:30 PM for his family and 2:30-3:30 PM for his friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM at which time we will celebrate Billy’s life and honor his memory. His family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at St. Martin's in The Pines for their care and compassion.
Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5: 8
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
