It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Billy Wayne Pyle, who departed from this world on April 19, 2023. Born on November 20, 1934, Wayne lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of strong family values, education, and a loving personality that touched everyone around him.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years Carol Pyle, his loving children Martin (Rachel) Pyle, James (Laurie) Pyle, Maribeth (Andrew) Towle, and Lisa (Elliot) Webb, his cherished grandchildren Rebekah (Will) Gray, John (Jessica) Pyle, David (Rebecca) Pyle, Grace (Graham) Hall, Payton Towle, and Eli Webb, and his great-grandchildren Lucas Gray, Louella Gray, Owen Gray, Clara Pyle, and Paxton Pyle. He also leaves behind his sister Suzanne (David) Enzfelder, his grand-dogs, grand-cats, and many other loving family members who will miss his caring and nurturing presence dearly.
Wayne attended Antioch Church of Christ, where he loved his church family serving as an elder and joyfully leading children’s church for over 2 decades. Working in Metro-Nashville public schools he served as a leader in special education and later the head of Graduate Education for Lipscomb University. Always with a funny and loving disposition, Wayne often shared valuable lessons on responsibility and worked tirelessly to provide for his family, who he regarded as his greatest accomplishment. Wayne also served as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the times of the Korean War. Semper Fi.
A service in remembrance of Wayne will be held at Antioch Church of Christ on April 29, 2023, at 10:00 AM. This will be followed by a celebration of his life at the same location at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together to share their memories, honor Wayne's legacy, and cherish the lasting impact he made on so many lives.
Wayne's unwavering commitment to education and family will forever serve as an inspiration for those who knew him. As we say our goodbyes, let us remember his funny, loving, and nurturing spirit, and keep the memory of Wayne Pyle alive in our hearts.
