Billy Joe Miller, 82, passed away at his home on Monday, February 17, 2020. Cremation services were provided by The Cremation Society of Virginia. There will be no services per his wishes. He was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard Miller and Carrie Kilgore Miller; his wife of 37 years Nancy Carol Mullins Miller; and his son Billy Kent Miller. Surviving are his two daughters Tammy Renee Miller Mullins and Sherri Delene Miller Niece; two sisters, Ella Ruth Thullen and Jerri Lewis; one brother, Charles Kedrick Miller; six grandchildren, Billy Sparks, Idana Sparks, Whitney Miller Sargent, Kendra Miller Prince, Caitlin Miller Niece, and Madison Miller Niece Schank; six great grandchildren, Hailey Sargent, Kody Sargent, Logan Sargent, Kana Sparks, Yuka Sparks, and Reid Prince; and numerous nieces and nephews. He worked for many years and retired from Kennedy’s Piggly Wiggly in 2000. He continued working for Food City when they bought out Piggly Wiggly. He was known to many, especially children, as Bill the Dollar Man. He loved giving one dollar bills to children whenever and wherever he saw them. He said he loved giving and hoped to bring a little happiness to the children. He often spoke of his love of God and how God had blessed him with good health for many years. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
