Billie's obituary
Billie Ransom Fields, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home on January 28, 2026. He was born on October 4, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia.
Billie was a devoted father and grandfather. He had a son, Billie Fields, from his first marriage to Kathy Fields. Years later, he married Roxanne Mayo (Fields), and together they had three children: Barbara (Michael) Larrabee (Fields), Bobby Fields, and William Fields. He was blessed with a large family that included several grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him joy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Pearl Phillips (Weeks); his father, Oscar Arvil Fields; his brothers Edward Eugene Fields, Oscar Allen Fields, Jimmie Roger Fields, and Daniel Gary Fields; and his sister, Peggy Sue Rabe (Buchanan).
Billie is survived by his sisters Judy Arlene (Rich) Pearce (Fields) of Logan, Utah; Ella Mae Crafton (Fields) of Jacksonville, Illinois; and Catherine Marie Bateman (Fields) of Golden Valley, Arizona; as well as his brother Frankie Lee Fields of Golden Valley, Arizona. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly.
Billie proudly served his country, completing two tours in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, dedicating a total of eight years to military service. He also served honorably in the United States Navy. His commitment to service and his country was a defining part of his life and a source of pride for his family.
Billie will be remembered for his strength, his service, and his deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, loyalty, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Billie and his niece, Lorrie Stratton had an unbreakable bond. Lorrie took great care of him throughout the years and in his final days. He loved her dearly.
Billie will be forever remembered for his love of fishing! Give him a fishing pole and some bait, take him out to the lake and his day was perfect!
We all love you and you will forever be missed! Rest in Peace!
