Billie Jo's obituary
Billie Jo Marie Messner, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton, MN surrounded by loved ones on May 29, 2024, at the age of 59.
Born on September 26, 1964, in Cloquet, MN, most recently residing in Milaca, MN.
Despite being a paraplegic for 33 years, Billie Jo lived life to the fullest. She was a witty, outgoing, strong, incredibly resilient woman, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Billie Jo had a passion for watching movies, listening to music, and cheering for her favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings. She had an eclectic taste in music, with Meatloaf, Johnny Cash, and country music being her favorite.
Billie Jo had a love for pizza, liver & onions, and a rare steak when she got the chance, always indulging in her favorite foods whenever she could.
“A community mother to many” Billie’s home was always open to those needing shelter. Whether it be for a meal, a place to collect your thoughts, or a place to rest your head at night, she never turned anyone away.
Minnesota held a special place in Billie’s heart, She enjoyed spending time with her children, Ana John- Somerset, WI and Greg Messner - St Cloud, MN , and her grandchildren, Ilaria, Declen, Marty Jr, Chase, Jacob, Michael, and James.
Seeing her children truly invest themselves in their children’s lives brought her the greatest comfort.
In her career as a waitress, Billie Jo touched the lives of many with her warm smile and friendly demeanor. She encountered every person she met with kindness, leaving a lasting impression on those she served.
She will always be remembered for her resilience, her love for her family, and her unwavering faith.
Billie Jo's favorite quote, "The good lord isn't ready for me yet," exemplifies her determination and positive outlook on life.
Billie Jo is survived by her mother, May Messner - Milaca, MN , her sister, Lynnell Messner - Sioux Falls, SD, and her brother, Dean Messner - Casa Grande, AZ, her children and grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father Milton Messner.
May her soul find eternal rest, and may her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.
A celebration of life is planned for 6/29/24 @ 5:00p.m. at the Milaca American Legion 160 2nd St NE, Milaca, MN 56353.
