Billie was an only child who was raised by her grandmother Lena Simpson whom she always called, Mama. At the beginning of her teen years she moved to Port Arthur, Texas to be raised by her mother, Rose. Billie attended Lincoln High School in Port Arthur and then went on to study at City College in San Francisco, CA. She and her husband raised their children while she earned a degree in nursing. Billie was an avid writer of poetry and lover of song. She had a beautiful soprano voice and she loved any and all things purple. Her children meant everything to her. Whenever we would tell her “I love you” then her response would be “I love you more.” But, the only one she truly loved more than her children was Jehovah. Many of the poems she wrote were inspired by her two greatest loves; her love of Jehovah God and of all of her “darlings” as she affectionately called her family.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, July 18, 1982 in San Francisco CA. She always believed in Jehovah’s promises for the future and especially that of the resurrection. She knew if she remained loyal and obedient to Jehovah, no matter what she had to endure, He would be there for her. When Jehovah wakes her she’ll be able to enjoy true peace, in perfect health and have the prospect of never dying again.
The family would like to thank you for all of your kind words, well wishes, cards, hugs and prayers. A special thank you goes to Billie’s longtime caregiver, Linda.
