Bijan's obituary

In Loving Memory of Bijan Vaziri

1944 – 2025

It is with great love and deep sorrow that we share the passing of Bijan Vaziri, who recently left us at the age of 81.

Born in Iran, Bijan came to the United States as a young man to attend college at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois—where he would meet the love of his life, Parvaneh, his devoted wife and best friend of 51 years.  Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in love, laughter, and partnership.

Bijan was a brilliant structural engineer, dedicating over 30 years of his career to building and shaping the Chicago skyline. Beyond his profession, he was a man of many gifts—an incredible artist, a passionate historian, and a constant source of humor and joy. His quick wit, ever-present smile, and knack for storytelling brought laughter and light to everyone around him.

In his retirement, Bijan cherished the simple joys of life: quiet mornings with Parvaneh, playing cards with his closest companions, traveling to the West Coast to spend time with his beloved daughters Dana and Parand, and creating lasting memories with his six adoring grandchildren. He also welcomed his two sons-in-law into the family with love and warmth, treating them as his own.

Bijan’s life was defined by love—love for his family, for knowledge, for philosophy, for art, and for the world and people around him. His laughter, kindness, and wisdom will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts and stories of those he touched.

The family invites you to share your memories, stories, photos, or thoughts in honor of Bijan’s life. Your reflections will help celebrate the joy, humor, and love he brought into the world.
