My thoughts and sympathies are with Bijan's family. I have known Bijan for many years and,  for a time, worked quite closely with him. I have tremendous respect for him and his work and he was fun to work with.  He made a very great impact on the probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) community, especially in the area of fire PRA. He will be greatly missed.
