B.G.'s obituary
Born on October 9th, 1950, B.G. toured the world as a singer and musical theater actor.
He performed locally, nationally, and internationally from Steinert High School to Broadway and throughout Europe. He graduated from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey), earning a BA in Music Education with an Applied Major in Voice.
During his senior year of college he landed a role on Broadway in the chorus of Jesus Christ Superstar. After, he toured the nation as Jesus in the national concert tour of the production. His greatest thrill was joining the cast of Tom O’Horgan‘s production of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band On The Road, during which he met his idols, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. You can read about his experience in this article he wrote: http://www.meetthebeatlesforr…
His vocal prowess was truly legendary. He could mesmerize an entire room when he sang…his range and power unequalled. He played the piano and shared music generously wherever he went.

An avid musician and writer, he penned many beautiful songs, composed music, wrote poetry and lyrics, and an entire book and musical (yet to be published). He played all around New Jersey in bands like the B.G. Gibson Band and Traveler with his dear friends Ernie White, Sammy Masiello, and many others.
More of his most-loved roles include Nathan Detroit (Guys and Dolls); Tony (West Side Story), and Joseph (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat). Off-Broadway, he performed in Rock-a-Bye Hamlet and many other productions. He went on to tour Europe several times with Ken Hill’s Phantom of the Opera.
On May 29th, 1982, he married the love of his life, Karen. B.G. has four daughters: Andrea Dawn (married to David Stal), Allison Joy (married to Todd Phillips, mother to his grandson, Cristiano Eros), Priscilla Rae (mother to his granddaughter, Penelope Violet, with Christopher Pejka), and Skylar Gibson.
He was a lover of music, the arts, and a champion of education. Some of his favorite musicians include Chicago, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Three Dog Night, The Beatles, John Lennon, and Stevie Wonder (to name a few). He was a big baseball fan with a massive baseball card collection - he rooted for the New York Yankees all the way! He was a traveler and a dreamer. He followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, studied the Bible from start to finish, and found acceptance through the 12 Steps of AA.
He loved deeply and felt that love reflected by his family, friends, and fans. He lived a big, beautiful life. In the end, he was extremely proud of all he had accomplished and felt he truly had realized his dreams. With this acceptance, his later years were spent quietly, surrounded by his family, enjoying the sunshine of South Florida after retiring from the State of NJ with 15 years of loyal service.
He is survived by his loving wife, daughters, and grandchildren mentioned above, as well as his adoring sister, Kathryn Hartz (married to Bill Hartz). He leaves a close-knit family filled with nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones. He is predeceased by his parents, Kathyrine and George William Gibson, Sr.
A celebration of his life will be planned for later this year in New Jersey.
