II just ran across this today. I had classes with Bill through junior high and 10th grade at Reynolds and Steinert, and remember his high-spirited personality. Wish I had known him through aldulthood. I moved to Florida before 11th grade. I'm sure he brought much happiness to his family and friends.
Dear BG. I Lived on Serrano Ave, Hollywood with your crazy dark side.  Dan gilreath saved your baby grand piano in my apt.  I only wish I could talk to you again.  DEBI AND I TOOK ROADTRIP TO SAN FRANCISCO... Andrea in tow in my little MG midget.  I am an alcoholic. After all these years, I'm so proud of you  you really pulled it together,  grateful to find your obit.  You were and are an unforgettable soul.  Would love to know how  Andi is doing. DEBI TOO.

I'm not sure exactly what year this story takes place, and its doesn't just encompass a day or specific event, When I first moved to New Jersey with my family I didn't know a soul. I met BG when he was sitting in and singing with his friend Ernie's band, Off White, at Casey Jones near Yardville, NJ. BG and I became friends very shortly after that first meeting. Being a musician myself who had not performed in quite a while I was very hesitant, and didn't exactly believe in myself to get started anew in a new state. BG took me under his wing. He encouraged me, taught me theory I didn't know, played piano for me and coerced me to sing. He taped me and tried to convince me that I should give performance another go. I was in a band within a year and had won a part in a local theatre production I tried out for during that same time period. None of that would have happened had BG not taken the time and effort to spend time working with me, encouraging me, and literally proving to me that I needed music back in life. I will never forget those days. Him sitting at my piano singing "Let it Be" as we were warming up to get started. Or years later at BG and Karen's singing Evergreen together. These are memories that I will cherish and reminisce with Karen when we talk. BG was the best; I'm not the only person that BG gave his time and effort too, there were many. A man with a tremendous voice helping and encouraging others to do what he loved so dearly. Our friendship has spanned close to 40 years. I truly loved that man. He was a sweetheart and everyone is going to miss him terribly. I know that Hank and I both will.

I was Bill’s booking agent from his senior year in school until his start on Broadway.
I treasure our trips to NY and especially his trips to Dangerfield’s club meeting Rodney , Bob Hope and Ben Ferrien.
Back then the bookings in Trenton were mostly on Wed,Fri,and Sat. He was also the star of the RCA Xmas Party three years in a row. We went from a boring party to a sold out party. Great fun.

Bill and I attended Trenton State College together, both of us music majors, his major was voice, mine was string bass, from 1968-1972. We had many of the same classes together, performed in many shows together, and played many gigs together in and around Trenton, NJ. He also performed in a trio that my brother, Craig Smith had in Trenton during those years. He was one of the funniest personalities at TSC in the music department, even had the professors in stitches, sometimes even at their expense. He was also one of the biggest talents at TSC. After college, he went on to perform on Broadway and with Broadway touring companies, I went on the road with several name big bands. I found a few newspaper clips from 1970 in which he is mentioned as a well respected and admired "crooner" at just about all the dinner clubs in Trenton. Most of his fans at that time had no idea that he was also such a great talent at contemporary music as well as the American Songbook standards!

In response to "What was the most fun you ever had with B.G.?"
My condolences go out to the Gibson family. My memories of Bill go back to our days at TSC, when we first met as performers at our freshman talent show... the friendship continued for many years.. as a friend and one the most talented people to walk this earth...I could go on for days regaling in the times we shared...his quick wit and sense of humor could always be counted on. He was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by those who were able to call him a friend.. Rest in peace my brother
I met Bill before he became known as BG back in Junior High. We were instant friends because of our love of music and Theatre. We were in plays together and Bill and I played music in a Trio when he came off the road from" Superstar" at The Quakerbrige Inn. I was honored to be the Driver for Karen and BG at their Wedding and had a great time celebrating that day with the happy couple. What a funny and talented individual he was. Bill filled in for Mickey Kessler when he couldn't make it in our Band Madison Avenue and did a terrific job with that powerful voice of his. I will miss him dearly but have fond memories that will last a lifetime. Take care, my friend. We will meet agian.
I am so saddened by this news . I send my heartfelt sympathies & condolences & prayers to all of BGs family . I met BG when he came on the JCS tour . All of us were duly impressed with his vocal prowess ! We roomed together, shared a love of the NY Yankees & Chicago played stickball , basketball & softball in the Broadway Show League. He was a terrific 3rd baseman . So many memories of shared time on the road , we were like brothers . He was truly a monumental talent . He could sing an aria , then turn around and sound like Stevie Wonder . He will truly be missed.
