Beverly's obituary

Beverly Lynne Wren, lovingly known as "Bevie," passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 20, 2024, in La Mirada, California, at the age of 85. Born on November 7, 1939, in Loma Linda, California, to Arlin Earl Rice and Anna Madelene Stephenson, Beverly spent her early years in Barstow, California, where her childhood was marked by school, church, and joyful adventures with friends. The sudden loss of her father on May 12, 1950, profoundly shaped her life.

Following her father’s passing, Beverly and her mother relocated to Inglewood, where she completed middle school and attended Inglewood High School. At Inglewood High, Beverly was active in school and was voted in as Girl's League President. Something that brought Bev joy was the fun fact that both of her daughter's; Shelley and Sharyl, were also Girl's League Presidents at their schools! After graduation, Beverly briefly studied at Brigham Young University before returning to Los Angeles to support her mother. At 19, she met Tracy Stephen, and they married when she was 20. Together, they had four children: Shelley Lynne Tripp (1961), Randall Tracy Stephen (1962), Sharyl Rae Hess (1964), and Ronald Arlin Stephen (1966). After their divorce in 1967, Beverly met Robert Wren in 1971 while they were both working at the Southern California Gas Company. They married on August 18, 1972, in Las Vegas—a day highlighted by seeing Elvis Presley live—and welcomed their son Christopher Robert Wren the following year. Bob and Beverly raised their five children in La Mirada, California, where they continued to reside. The couple recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.

Beverly was a devoted matriarch who cherished her family above all else. She adored her children’s spouses—David Tripp, Kellie Stephen, Dan Hess, and Danielle Wren—and took great pride in her grandchildren: Holly Lynne Tripp, Jonathan Charles Tripp, Samantha Rae Silva, Elijah Valentine Varela Wren, Walker Christopher Wren, Nolan Robert Wren, and Kinsley Rae Wren. She also delighted in her grandchildren’s spouses—Brittney Rose; her daughter Ashlynn; Joslen Tripp; and Murat Piker—and found immense joy in her four great-grandchildren: Jase David Tripp, Jett Jonathan Tripp, Joah Clayton Tripp, and Jessa Shae Tripp. Beverly is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Betty Garcia; nephews Steve and Craig Schaub; niece Pammie Anderson; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Arline Schaub, her brother-in-law Chuck Schaub, and her grandson Nolan.

In retirement, Bob and Bev enjoyed over two decades camping with the "Freewheelers" RV Camping Club. She loved that group! She also found happiness in music, camping with family, cooking shows, movie nights, recipes, reading, and most of all, time spent with loved ones.
