Kay's obituary

Beverly Kay Burris, 79, died peacefully at her home on January 17th, 2021 in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Kay was born on October 13th, 1941 in Minco, Oklahoma to Ida Mae and Claude Lee Moore. She attended Minco schools and was often found roller-skating, taking care of animals, or spending time with her siblings, Wanda and Johnny Ray.

Kay met her future husband Gilman at the Minco movie theater in 1955 and they were married June 1st, 1957. Kay and Gilman moved to Tuttle, Oklahoma where they had 3 children, Sammy Lee, Nicky Joe, and Tammy Rene’. She worked as a homemaker and spent time working as a cook in a small Tuttle café for a while. Full of love, Kay spent her time being a source of stability, care, and comfort for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Known as Grandma Kay, she exemplified the name’s meaning day in and day out. She provided an invaluable example to her kids and instilled the values of kindness, gentleness, humility, and humor. If Kay wasn’t taking care of her grandkids or at a sporting event, she’d often be found enjoying episodes of the Golden Girls or Judge Judy.

Kay will be sorely missed by her family on earth, but they are comforted knowing of the glorious reunion she is having with loved ones passed before her. She is preceded in death by her parents Ida Mae and Claude Lee Moore, sister Wanda Hart, brother Johnny Ray Moore, infant son Sammy Lee Burris, and son Nickey Joe Burris. She is survived by her husband Gilman Burris, her daughter Tammy Rene Burris-Ellis, her grandchildren Kory, Brittani, Elizabeth, Nathan, Trasi and Jeremy, and great-grandchildren Faith Beverly, Hunter, Ivy, Shelby, and Draven.

Kay will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, caring heart, long hugs, and unconditional love.
