Betty's obituary

Betty Jane Wycoff, aged 87, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, in Bend, Oregon. Born on December 18, 1937, in Jerome, Arizona, Betty dedicated her life to service, compassion, and family. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1956 and furthered her education at The Salvation Army School for Officers Training, where she was commissioned alongside her husband, Walter, in 1966. Together, they served in various appointments in California and Arizona, ministering to those in need and touching many lives along the way. Betty's commitment to service continued as she later served as the Food Programs Administrator for The Salvation Army in Modesto, CA, until her retirement in 2018.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed puzzles, table games, movies, and reading but most of all, loved gathering family and friends around her to celebrate special occasions. Her classy, meticulous, yet unpretentious style, made every such occasion memorable.

Betty is survived by her spouse, Walter, son Tracy, daughter Wendy, son Todd Dale, and daughter-in-law Rebecca. Additionally, she’ll be remembered by 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Walton Stewart and Ruby Pearl Benson, and her siblings Margarite, Ruby, Bud, Fred, Bonnie, John, Laura, and Larry.

Her compassionate and warm spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her as her life was a testament to the power of quiet strength and loving dedication.
