This is JoAnn; I miss Betty so much; we never lost touch though the years…she always just called me “Little one”. I would always ask her if she actually even knew my name and she would say “yes, of course! It is little one. 😊. I loved Betty 🤗

Betty and her family took my mom in as their own when she was young. The loved and nurtured her for so many years. When I came along I had a “family” and I wasn’t told any different. Betty was my cousin. I was older when I began questioning since mom was an only child. In our minds we were and always would be cousins. She was a beautiful, godly woman that willingly and lovingly nurtured my teenage years. Throughout the years she has always been an encouragement. I thank God for putting her and her family in our lives. They truly made a huge difference in my mom and dad’s life and Shari’s and mine. Lauri and Scott grew up with her in their lives. That’s family. With love from the Blurton side of the family.

Condolences and prayers to your family Betty. Gail and I will miss seeing you at Faith Comes By Hearing and for me personally at some of the Lobo football banquets many years ago. You were such a kind soul. See you one day in Glory with the King of Glory, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Aunt Betty is such a beautiful soul. Her kindness and love was always felt and she had a way of conveying her encouragement and making you feel truly special. She walked out her faith. The sweetest example whose light shined brightly. She will truly be missed until a beautiful reunion some day.

I am so saddened by Betty’s passing. Betty has always been my favorite. Enjoyed our last conversation more than you will ever know. I love her so. My mom, Lilly, is dancing around heaven with her, Shari and Maebelle right now. A glorious reunion with our loved ones. Keeping her precious family in prayer for peace and comfort. Love!! It was in the early 70’s and my husband and I hadn’t been Christians for that long when we met Betty and her beautiful family at church in Las Vegas. They immediately took us under their wing and would have us over every Sunday after church for a wonderful meal. They were our role models and a phenomenal inspiration. I loved them so much. Betty and I have kept in touch all these years, and now I wish we would have talked more…. The last time being last month. I am excited for her as she is discovering all the glories of God! We shall meet again! My condolences to the family as they adjust to living without her beautiful physical presence.

I was saddened and excited at the same time to hear of Betty’s passing. She enriched my life so much. The Bible studies, Bible Quiz trips, practice, meals at her house… the list goes on and on. She always had a huge smile and you felt the warmth of God’s touch just being near her. I’m excited for her because her faith is now sight. She’s with the One she always taught us about. I’m saddened for her family because of the loss they will feel. Heaven gets sweeter by the day, and we know we will see her again. Soon and very soon. I will always remember the times spent with her, and will forever be grateful to have been one of “Betty’s Bible quiz buzzer bangers”!

I am so blessed for all the mentorship Betty poured into my life. I have so many great memories with her. She was my Bible quiz coach. We were “Betty’s Bible Quiz Buzzer Bangers.” She took my team on so many trips locally and to different states. For years, on Sundays, she would prepare big, fabulous meals at her home for our team even though she never ate them because that was always her day of fasting. Even though I was a preteen and teenager back then, she has continued to reach out and keep in touch with me for over 30 years. She made us feel like we were her kids. She also had a way of worshipping that was unlike any other. Their is no doubt that she is rejoicing and receiving her eternal reward that she always taught us about. We miss her here but will see her again. I am praying for all of her family as they walk through this new season.

Carol and I met Betty Shaum, when we were just 15 yrs old. The church we attended merged with Highland Assembly Of God church in Albuquerque, where Betty and Dick Shaum were attending. J. O Yeatts was the merging pastor, and I happened to be the merging young pianist. A solid friendship began. The Shaums were there when Carol and I were married, and we shared in each other's joy when each of theirs and our children were born.
Later in life, Dick passed away; but the friendship remained. Betty was there when our parents passed away, consoling, comforting, and helping in every way she could. We are richer by far by having Betty in our lives, and we want to extend heart-felt condolences to Rick, Ray, Nancy, and Rob and their families. We love you all.
