Betty's obituary
Nobles Funeral Home announces the passing of Mrs. Betty J. Page Newton, aged 81, who departed this life peacefully at her residence on Sunday, September 15, 2024. A beloved native of Appling County, Mrs. Newton dedicated her life to her work as a seamstress and business owner. She was an active member of the Glenwood Methodist Church, where she contributed significantly to the Busy Bees program ministering to area nursing homes and served as a former Sunday School teacher. Her love for nature was evident in her beautifully tended gardens, where she delighted in the flowers and enjoyed watching the birds.
Mrs. Newton is preceded in death by her parents, Mackie Lee and Nettie Griffin Page, as well as her siblings, Cecil Page (Gayle) and Louise Selph. She leaves behind her devoted husband of forty-two years, Henry George Newton of Glenwood, and three cherished children: Delynn Johnson of Baxley, Deedra Hooper (David) of Baxley, and Kelly Newton (Candy) of Vidalia. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren Lynn McDaniel, Heith Ashmore, Cole Bowery (Krystyna), Cam Bowery (Brandy), Cailin Newton, and Karah Newton—and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear friend, Myra Page.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. from Nobles Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Brian Durden, Reverend Ron Womack, and Kelly Newton.
Interment will follow at the Glenwood City Cemetery.
