Our condolences to Todd and Marlo and the whole family.  We are heartened to learn that your mom finished well and knowing her faith and "spunk" that comes as no surprise! 

Our roots go way back to Northwest Iowa where our mothers (Sharon Spears Toland) were friends at the Ruthven Methodist Church and our dad (Clark Toland) was a cousin to your mom (through grandfathers). In fact, our (Michelle Toland Attar & Melanie Toland McCoy) first airplane ride as young girls was on your dad's plane as he gave us a tour of the Iowa farmland with take off and landing in the barren cornfield. Because your family lived in Texas and our family lived in Minnesota, our paths didn't cross much. However, your grandfather Clancy and uncle Jim provided endless laughter through their story telling or impish antics whenever the Toland bunch congregated periodically for weddings and funerals in the Iowa area. Whenever your mom was present at these gatherings she was right there in the mix. Toland women are fierce! She seemed to possess an endless smile with sincere attention for every conversation. She easily incorporated her faith into life, too. During one visit to Waco she invited Michael and Michelle to join her for a Lay Witness Fellowship gathering. That was my first encounter with the organization and their practice of sharing testimonies of faith in Jesus. Beautiful!
