Betty's obituary
Mrs. Betty Jane Mack, 88, of Mansfield, IL, died peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2022. Betty also lovingly known by many as "Memo" was born on Feb 22 1934 to Maurice and Mary Annie Baker in Chicago, IL. Growing up in a large family Betty enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends which included her 8 siblings. Betty was destined to be a wonderful mother and soon created her own large family and met the love of her life Donald in their early 20s. Memo was the glue that held her family together and she made it her mission to improve the lives of others and always went above and beyond to help her family when needed. Betty was passionate about her love for the "Price Is Right" and "The Young And The Restless" but her favorite thing of all was to curl up with her National Enquirer, and have her daily coffee with her sausage and gravy biscuits!
Betty spent most of her days being an active grandmother. She was not afraid to get dirty and would actively play with the neighborhood children and would do anything to make you laugh so when things got rough and needed to be settled down she was not afraid to put everyone in check! She was the best "Memo" in the world and would welcome any kid as her grandbaby! We will miss her greatly but know that heaven has gained a beautiful angel when he welcomed Memo!
Betty was predeceased by her husband Donald, and six of her siblings Evelyn, Dorothy, Maurice, Beverly, Fran, and Anne, as well as her granddaughters Laura and Betty Jo, Grandson Issac Mack and son-in-law Charlie. She is survived by Her Children Mary Sisco(The late Charles Sisco), Ernest Baker(Fran), Barbara Mack(James), Donald Mack(Lisa) Kenneth Mack(The late Sandy Mack) Arlene Odom, and Ronald Mack and Her Siblings Nancy Watts(The late Shirley Watts) , Steve Baker(The late Jean Baker) well as 25 Grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Homes. There will be a funeral service on 12-22-22 at noon at the Calvert-Belangee-Bruce funeral home located at 106 N Main St. Farmer City, IL 61842 (309-928-2212) with the burial after the services.
The Watcher
She always leaned to watch for us
Anxious if we were late,
In winter by the window,
In summer by the gate.
And though we mocked her tenderly
Who had such foolish care,
The long way home would seem more safe,
Because she waited there.
Her thoughts were all so full of us,
She never could forget,
And so I think that where she is
She must be watching yet.
Waiting ‘til we come home to her
Anxious if we are late
Watching from Heaven’s window
Leaning from Heaven’s gate.
