Betty's obituary

Betty Kay Scott, lovingly known as “Memaw” to her grandchildren, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Whitehouse, Texas, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on February 28, 1941, in Canadian, Texas, to Roy and Kathryn Mathews, Betty lived a life full of love, resilience, and creativity. She is survived by her brother Mitchell Mathews; her children Kathy Quattlebaum, Kaye Scott, Kelly Weber, Kerri Scott, and Todd Babikoff; her grandchildren April Lampton, Misty Spire, Rachel Quattlebaum, Brandi Burch, Tachina Weber, Nevaeh Scott, Alyssa Mathias, Logan Babikoff, Kristian Burch, Cody Quattlebaum, Anthony Weber, Dakota Mercer, Darek Mercer, and Dawson Mercer; and many great-grandchildren whom she adored deeply. Betty was preceded in death by her son Tony Babikoff, granddaughter Tanaya Scott, grandson Matthew Babikoff, brother Jim Mathews, sister Rita Thompson, and husband Dick George. A proud graduate of Cottage Grove High School, Betty began her working life as a Gogo Dancer at the Boom Boom Room and later wore many hats as a— Hairdresser Instructor, Florist, Cake Decorator, Ceramics Artist, and a Office Professional, earning a degree in Office Management. She concluded her career at McKenzie Willamette Hospital, where her compassion and fun personality touched many lives. Betty’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She loved crafts, dancing, playing cards, watching NASCAR and NFL games, and hunting for treasures in antique and thrift shops. Her strength and generosity were unmatched — always ready to help anyone in need, and always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. In her final years, Betty was lovingly cared for by her twin granddaughters, Tanaya and Nevaeh Scott. After Tanaya’s passing, Nevaeh with the help of her loving partner Lamarcus Taylor, continued to fill Betty’s days with warmth, laughter, and love — from manicures and lunches to late-night talks that made every day special. Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones in heaven, watching over us with her love and strength.
