Betty's obituary

On Tuesday, January 7, 2020, Betty Jordan, loving mother of two children, passed away at the age of 83, surrounded by family.

Betty was born on January 24, 1936 in Wisconsin to James Melvin and Olga Carline Rustad, the last of thirteen children. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in French from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. She married and had two children, Stephanie and Tom. She was able to experience life in many places due to her husband’s work including, Minnesota, Kentucky, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, before settling in West Chester, PA.

Betty was dedicated to her children and very active in the Henderson High School band boosters and other school activities. She was also active in her churches, both Advent Lutheran, where she was a church secretary and later Calvary Lutheran church. She worked at Snap On Tools and Simplex Time Recorders in West Chester, PA. In addition she worked for 30 years at Macy’s Department Store in Exton, PA in the china department.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents James Melvin and Olga Carline Rustad, and siblings, Walter Rustad, Orin Rustad, Myrtle Paulsen, Edna Miller, Lillian Diver, Ruth Anklam, Mynert Rustad, Pearl Rustad, Jessie Hilgendorf, and James Rustad. She is survived by her sister Vivian Sneller, Green Bay, WI, her daughter and son in law Stephanie and Richard Mayberry of West Chester, PA, son and daughter in law Thomas and Nanette Jordan of Norwalk, CT, and three grandchildren, Ashley Benusa of Hong Kong, Taylor Jordan of Boston, MA, and Zachary Jordan of Waterbury, CT.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in West Chester on January 27, 2020 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her memory to be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
