Betty's obituary

Betty Jean Brown passed away at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia on Sunday, August 29th, 2021 after a strenuous battle with COVID-19.  Betty was born on September 5th, 1945 to Jodie Dilworth & Sallie Mae Thompson in Detroit, Michigan.  Betty was the youngest of two brothers & three sisters.

Shortly after graduating from Western High School in 1964, she married Richard Taylor & to the union was born only one child, Regina Taylor, whom they loved dearly.  Unfortunately, they divorced & some years later Betty was introduced to the truth & started studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses.

As she progressed in her study of the Bible, she grew to love Jehovah God.  Betty symbolized her dedication by water baptism on July 10th, 1971 at the Divine Name District Assembly in Port Huron, Michigan.  She had an overpowering zeal for the ministry & became a regular pioneer, which she continued to do for many years.  She put her all into the preaching & teaching work, all the while being a wonderful & caring mother to Regina.  Betty excelled at supporting family & friends through their many passions & difficulties in their lives. Whether it meant helping Regina through adolescence or witnessing to others in support of the preaching work, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others.

In March of 1977, Betty married Franklin Brown Jr. & moved to Atlanta, Georgia.  During their union only one child was born,  Audra Brown (Williams).  Betty soon started working for the DeKalb County School District as a bus driver for mentally disabled children.  She enjoyed her job & continued with it for a number of years.  After years of marriage, Betty & Franklin divorced & Betty continued to raise Regina & Audra in the truth.  Betty instilled & inculcated such a love for Jehovah in her two daughters, that it moved both of them to dedicate their lives to Jehovah as well.

Betty was known for her beautiful smile & great personality.  In her younger years, Betty was extremely athletic,  playing many sports.  She enjoyed roller skating & playing tennis & was great at it.  She also enjoyed playing Bid Whist & spending quality time with the friends in the congregation.  She will be missed by so many.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Regina Taylor & Audra Williams (Jamon); seven grandchildren:  Wesley Holland, Erin Taylor, Jaala Williams, Nya Williams, Jordan Williams, Donovan Williams, & Angel Williams; one great granddaughter:   Quori Parker; Betty's sister, Gladys Todd,  & a host of other relatives & friends.  Those preceding her in death are her mother, father, & siblings:  Willie Mae Foster, Evelyn Nichols, Lawyer Nichols, & Spencer Nichols.
