I’m so sorry to hear of Ms Betty’s passing. We met when she would sit in on our Bible studies at Country Place in Fairhope and a friendship ensued. I enjoyed learning about her family (that she loved so much), her travels, her love for flowers, art and the Bible (it was impressive to see all the scriptures she had underlined). It was heartwarming to see her encourage others with the pictures she colored and the beautiful scriptural thoughts she always included on the backside. My friends and I grew to love her and will truly miss our visits with her. She’ll always have a special place in my heart.

Betty with a FEW of the people who loved her most... one story... just before the first Thanksgiving Day after Chauncey died, I called her to see what her holiday plans were. She said “I’m having some of the widow ladies from church over for lunch”! 🥰 we chatted a little more and hung up. Thanksgiving morning I got up early, drove to Gulfport, knocked on her door and said “thought you might like a centerpiece for your table...” the look on her face was so precious to me! I spent the whole day with her and “the widow ladies” whom I knew from FBC Gulfport .. for a few years after that, every time I called her she ask where I was... Betty was always wanting to be with her family and friends... it was as if her soul was restored just by talking to someone she loved... although my heart is broken because she is gone from us now, I know that Heaven is bursting with joy at her arrival & she’s there, wondering when we’ll get there with the Flinch deck and Barq’s floats! 🥰🥰🥰

My family moved to Gulfport in 1958. We immediately joined First Baptist Church where I met Mr.. and Mrs.Hinman. She was very active as was her husband and children in Church activities. I was active in Girl's Auxiliary. Mr. Hinman took photos of the honor ceremonies for GAs.. He also took photos of my June 20th ,1966 wedding . Mrs. Hinman was always with him. She always smiled and spoke kindly to me at church, high school band performances , and in ordinary life activities like at grocery stores.

I am so sorry for your loss. Miss Betty was a special person. I only knew her for the last 3.5 years but loved her very much. She was a lady of strong faith, wonderful life stories, and a great sense of humor. I looked forward to our weekly visits and Bible study. And if we stopped in unannounced she was usually playing cards. I know everyone who knew her will miss her greatly.
