Betty's obituary

Betty Gaskins Waldron, 1949 – 2024

Betty Waldron passed away on January 26, 2024, after a battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born on February 17, 1949, in Arcadia, Florida to Jerrold and Dorothy Gaskins. Betty loved to learn; she graduated from DeSoto County High School in 1966, and later earned B.A. and M.A. degrees in Geography from the University of Florida. She and her husband of 56 years, Dr. Joe Waldron, ran their Orthodontics practice side by side in Gainesville for 40 years, working together to brighten the smiles of thousands of children around Florida.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and by one sister, Gail Gaskins. She is survived by her husband, by her two children, Greg (Melissa) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Shannon (Brian) of Washington, Connecticut, and by her four grandchildren (Fin, Nate, Drew, and Jack).  Betty is also survived by her sister, Sue Parker, by her brother, Jerry Gaskins, both of Arcadia, Florida, and by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of North Central Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
