Mom was an exceptional seamstress sewing precious dresses for us three girls we proudly wore on special occasions. Mom also generously sewed for neighbors and friends. A fondest memory is when mom sewed matching navy double-knit dresses with coordinating red, white and blue scarfs. As members of our Youth Group, my dearest best friend Cheryl and neighbor Teresa and I, while wearing our dresses, sang together in front of the congregation every Sunday.

Betty and her first spouse Donald Smith, met in Dade City, Florida, and they wed in Mansfield, Ohio. They were blessed with three children, Nancy Jean, Patricia Marie, and Donna Kay.
