She leaves a daughter, Melinda Mattox of Martinsville, VA; Three grandchildren,Tracy, Robert, Angel; and Three Great grandchildren. Also, a great-niece and great-nephew, Maddie and Tyler Morris who claimed her as their other grandmother. Betty Graduated from Laurel Park High School in 1966. Although she never had a college degree, she was one of the smartest people one could have ever known. She worked at Morton's, Acme, Health Services Foundation, and retired from the University of Virginia to take care of her grandchildren in 2007. In her free time, she enjoyed crafts, sewing, photography, and sightseeing on the Skyline Drive. She was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching college sports with her family. She was creative and imaginative. She spent many Christmas Eves putting together complicated toys, just to see the delight and joy in the eyes of a child. She would sit in the floor for hours on Christmas Day and play with children under the tree. Often, she would walk up to someone and say that she thought they needed a hug. She would call people randomly just to see how they were doing. Betty's quiet laughter, sweet smiles, encouraging words, and warm hugs will be missed.
