Bette's obituary

We are heartbroken to announce that Bette Annette Ralls (Hardy), 75, of Canton, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 19th, 2023.

Bette was born on June 2nd, 1947 to loving parents Eunice and Lewis Hardy in Jackson, MS, where she spent an idyllic childhood in the company of her large family and many cousins. After settling in Texas, she graduated from R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton, TX in 1965 where she participated in the school drill team, and soon began working at Otis Engineering.

Bette and former spouse, Eugene Max Broyles, had three beautiful daughters together - Kelly Lynn (1967), Kimberly Cherie (1970) and Kara D’Anne (1974).

In 1975 she met and married the love of her life, Robert Lee Ralls III and they remained committed to each other for 47 years until her passing.

Although Bette was successful in all of her professional endeavors, she found her work home in 1978 at Southwestern Bell in Dallas, TX where she spent 25 dedicated years as a customer service representative until her eventual retirement, making countless lifelong friends and memories along the way.

In 1992 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and declared cancer free one year later.

Bette was known for many things, but most notable of those was her strength to endure some of life’s most difficult challenges, her devotion to her christian faith, and her relentless dedication to her family - namely her children and grandchildren. She was our matriarch, the glue that held us all together, and love personified. Everyone who knew her was better for it, and we will miss her deeply, as her absence will be ever apparent.

The last 14 months of Bette’s life have been a grueling series of medical emergencies and complications, and although 100 more years wouldn’t have felt like enough time with her, we take solace and are blanketed in peace knowing that she is free of pain and rejoicing in the presence of her Lord among loved ones.

Bette is preceded in death by her mother, Eunice Brown Hardy; father, Lewis Hardy; brother, Darrell Glen Hardy; daughter, Kara Broyles.

She is survived by loving husband, Robert Ralls III; daughters, Kelly Broyles Turner and Kimberly Broyles Carson; son-in-law Tim Turner; grandchildren, Brook Ralls, Kendra Broyles-Falldine, Tyler Holbein, Kylee Carson, Summer Broyles, Taylor Broyles, Jade Fritz, Katelynn Broyles; Great-grandchildren, Marilyn Ralls, Sadie Falldine, Aubrey Ralls, Paityn Derrick, Cora Falldine; Long time best friend, Tonya Rollinson

Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend a memorial and celebration of life in her honor on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 2:00 at Lakeside Baptist Church in Canton, TX.
