Bette-Lee Taylor
It is with deep sorrow that we announce Bette Lee Taylor, age 89, passed away peacefully at home , surrounded by her family, on May 13, 2025.
Born during a blizzard on January 17, 1936, in Quincy, MA, Bette-Lee was the beloved daughter of the late John C. Taylor and Mae C. Taylor. She is survived by her three daughters, Julie Anne Sheppard, Kristin Lee Sheehan, and Heidi Taylor Weicker; her son-in-law, George Vincent Sheppard III; and her three grandchildren, William (Willie) Sheppard, Joshua Sheehan, and Isabell Sheehan. Bette-Lee leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service to her family, church, community, and multiple volunteer activities . Bette-Lee was a woman of remarkable achievements and a testament to the power of faith, perseverance and intellect.
Bette-Lee earned a degree through The American Chemistry Pathology, a subspecialty of pathology and minored in psychology and began her career at Cape Cod Hospital. Later on she relocated to Rhode Island to pursue a degree in hospital administration. However, seeking greater fulfillment, she obtained her real estate and broker's license, ultimately founding her own real estate company, Homestead Properties, where she exceeded her own expectations.
Bette-Lee spent her remaining 22 years in Hendersonville NC, dedicating herself to all that’s good in the world. An active member with The Hendersonville Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir up until a few years ago and volunteered at The Storehouse, a Christ-centered ministry providing food and life's most basic necessities for those in need. Bette-Lee witnessed nearly a century of change, and despite the vicissitudes life had to offer, she remained spirited with unwavering optimism until the very end.
Bette-Lee's life was a testament to devotion, integrity, and love, qualities she instilled in everyone around her. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" announced towards the end of September.
Bette-Lee kindly suggested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital Research.
