After college, Bert enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served as an Airman First Class in the Air Police Squadron from 1963-1969.
Following a car accident, Bert met the love of his life, Kathleen Marie Mohr, when she was his nurse in the hospital. They were married on May 23, 1970 and were married for 48 years before Kathy's passing in 2019. They bought their home in Springfield, NJ in 1973, and welcomed their cherished son Stephen in 1980. Bert spent over two decades working in the private banking division of Chase Manhattan Bank, retiring as the Vice President of Operations.
