Bernice's obituary

Bernice Evelyn Suderman

You left us beautiful memories and will forever be in our hearts.

Passed away with family by her side in Roseburg Oregon on February 24, 2025. Bernice was born November 13, 1932 in Grass Range, MT to Gustav and Anna Brandt. Bernice grew up with eight siblings on a farm near Great Falls, MT She kept that farm spirit all her life. Bernice married George Suderman in 1953. After spending time in Midland, MI near George's family, they moved west to the Seattle area where they raised their four children. 

Bernice’s career was with the Boeing Company, where she worked 25 years. She was lead in the key data entry department, and in the mid-1980’s, Boeing offered her a position at Edwards Airforce Base, where she was part of a project called the Stealth B-2 Bomber; she and George were among the crowd who watched the B-2’s inaugural flight in July of 1989. 

Bernice & George went into retirement as snowbirds and took up camp hosting across the western states at many national & state parks. Bernice enjoyed arts & crafts and took up quilting as a hobby and made many beautiful quilts for her kids, nieces, nephews, and others. Bernice was known for her generosity, her love of people and animals; she had a keen mind, a quick wit and dry sense of humor. She always had a smile for friends and family, and she loved visiting with all of them, in person or by phone. Bernice is survived by her four children, Tom Suderman of Lynnwood WA, his children Johnathan, Hans, Sonya and Anna; Connie & Jack Christensen of Roseburg OR, their sons Eric, Alec; Gary & Nadynne Suderman of Tacoma WA, their children Priscilla, Adam, Crystle; Andrea Strome of Roseburg OR, her son Christopher.

Bernice is also survived by her brother Kenneth Brandt of Great Falls, MT. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband George. Memorial services will be held at the Roseburg National Cemetery on NW Garden Valley, Monday, March 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM To 11:30 AM with gathering directly after at the Holiday Inn Express, Roseburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bernice’s name may be made to her favored charity, the Roseburg Rescue Mission.
