Bernardina Uy, fondly known as "Nelly" by her many friends and family, passed away in Queens, New York on January 12, 2019 at the age of 92. Born on March 12, 1926 in Pangasinan, Philippines to Prudencio Castro and Florentina Viray, Bernardina was a graduate of San Francisco State and worked in administration at Mount Sinai Hospital for many years. She loved cooking, supported the Filipino American Society in Queens, and was a deeply committed …
