Bernard's obituary
Bernard Walter Wiehl passed away on January 19, 2026, in Dunedin, FL. He was born in Queens, NY on April 8, 1935, to Ferdinand and Teresa Kogut Wiehl, the youngest of six children.
He graduated St John’s University in Queens, NY and served honorably in the United States Air Force. He lived in Queens, Massachusetts, West Hempstead, Long Island and Dunedin, FL.
In his spare time Bernard enjoyed travelling, especially cruising and visiting theme parks. He enjoyed many cultural venues including theater and musical performances and served as a volunteer at the Ruth Eckard Hall in Clearwater. Keenly interested technology, he liked keeping up with the latest advances. He a loved shopping and bargain hunting. He was also very generous with his time and talents within his Florida community.
In his later years, his Catholic faith was central to his life. He was a communicant at Our Lady of Lourdes, Dunedin FL and attended Mass daily.
In addition to his parents and siblings, Bernard was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen. He leaves behind his loving wife Barbara Catherine and his children Bernard Jr. (Andrea), Gregory, Russell (Martha), Gordon, Reginald, and Douglas (Kim), three grandchildren and many loving friends and neighbors.
The family wishes to thank Father Zach at Our Lady of Lourdes who was wonderfully supportive and all the fine people of Hospice who assisted with his care in the last days.
A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Dunedin on Monday Feb 2, 2026, at 11 AM.
