My cousin Bernie was one of a kind.In my younger years I always marveled at how handsome he was,and how he often had a beautiful woman at his side. Growing up whenever our families got together,Bernie was guaranteed to find me,strike up a conversation, and ask about my life  I distinctly remember fall of 1979,I had just gotten out of the navy..I was visiting with Margie Patti at aunt Jane's home.bernie came in and after a big hug and his patented Hollywood smile,he fixed me a drink I'd never had before,a stinger!!I don't drink anymore, but over the years around Christmas time I'd order a stinger and toast to Bernie.

In the 90s.bernie was living in highland township, and I worked in that township for almost 8years(oakland County sheriff)

And in those years Bernie and I talked a lot about life, and families. We found time to do an occasional lunch, and every once in a while we woukd gokf together at highland hills, after my workday.

I loved Bernie like a big brother..and I made a point of phoning him often.just to see how life was treating him..I especially made a point of talking to him at holidays, and even though my door was always open to him,it was a rarity when he blessed our home with his presence.

He was an important part of my life, and I miss him and our conversations He was and is truly loved.. I am so happy I was able to visit him and say one ladt goodbye to him in his final days I wish he'd gifted me his beautiful hair before he left to join his other famiky members in heaven.

RIP Bernie...❤️

RIP Dear Bernie.  Bernie always joined in at our family get togethers.  He would show up with a little smile and a little something to snack on.  He would join in on discussion of various topics and added to the lively conversation. He was always ready to laugh and join in.  He is in my thoughts and prayers.
