Still thinking of Bernie, who helped me and others grow as

Individuals, for a lot of his long life!

Bernie,

What’s left of our family, namely Rita and I, still miss you. I admired your courage to live life on your own terms,  I loved your sardonic wit, and I always learned something interesting when I talked with you. I just wish we could have had more time.

Love you, Bern

Bernie was the glue that held his family together. He made efforts to always keep in touch with his brother, Russell, and his cousins and other family members. He was the one to make the weekly phone calls and plan visits with his brother, despite having had some substantial health issues himself over the years. He and his loyal and giving friend Mary Wadsley made the long car trip from New York to Ohio many times to visit Russ and Betty, his wife..And when Russ died suddenly, despite grieving himself, Bernie made sure to call and check on his sister-in-law and niece daily. These are just a few examples of Bernie’s giving nature and we all miss that.
