Ben's obituary
It is with a heavy heart that I share the death of our Big Brother Benjamin "Ben" D. Wilkie, age 55. Ben passed away on Sunday, December 12th, 2021 in his beloved city of Minneapolis, MN.
Ben was the first born to Daniel and Karen Wilkie on May 17th, 1966. He was the first of five children. He resided in South Minneapolis his entire life but for a few years in Northfield, MN during early elementary school years. He attended several elementary schools prior to St Albert the Great Catholic School from 6th to 8th grade and then De La Salle and he graduated for Minneapolis South High in 1984. He studied computer programming at Minneapolis Community & Technical College. Over the years in worked in the field of Computer Technology and most recently as an Usher/Concession department at Target Center.
He was passionate about so many things; sports, TV sitcoms, and most types of music. He cared deeply for his friends and family. He was a dedicated member of his church and an outstanding BINGO caller! He was an author of the book "Islander Days"and a Sunday School Teacher. He was sensitive and many considered him shy (until you got to know him), he had a rather quirky sense of humor and a sensational memory of all kinds of information.
He will be remembered for countless unique reasons and he will be missed profoundly.
He is survived by his parents, Karen Wilkie and Daniel (Lori) Wilkie; siblings Andrea (Jedd) Beach, Erika Wilkie, Nathan Wilkie; niece and nephew, Isabella and Asher Beach; many aunts, uncles, cousins. He is proceeded in death by his brother Adam Wilkie and his grandparents.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Albert the Great Church on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021. Address: 2836 33rd Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55406. Visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am with lunch to follow.
