Over twenty years later, I still remember Ben fondly as my favorite summer camp counselor. He was effervescent and I was far from the only kiddo at camp who felt seen by Ben, which is so important. I will be grateful for that forever.

My sister and I knew Ben and Daniel as an 11 year old at Southview Baptist Church in Virginia. Our parents sang in a quartet and the choir. We had to wait for them to finish practice each week. I remember playing soccer, hide and seek and playing preacher. Ben was always very kind. I’m so very sorry for your loss. —Erin Gilmore

Michelle, we are so very sorry for the loss of Ben.  We read your updates and were so touched by his strong love of family and his strong faith in God and by your bravery.  Tyler, Debbie, Ben and Daniel were our next door neighbors from 1986-1992 and were so much fun!  We quickly became close and our 2 daughters took piano lessons from Debbie, and I kept Ben and Dan at my house while she taught.  Those were wonderful days!  We will keep you and your sons, Luke and Tate, in our prayers!  Love, Rod and Pam Harnden

I haven’t seen Ben in many years but I attended elem-high school with him and just came here to say he was always such a nice person…through Facebook it’s easy to see that hasn’t changed. I’m sure he will be greatly missed. Sending up big prayers of healing and peace for his entire family especially his wife and children.

Ben, you will be missed. I got to know you through your beautiful wife Michelle as we became friends. I remember you being almost like a protective brother when Matt first came into the picture…sort of joking around, but serious at the same time. Thank you for having a kind heart. Matt and I will continue to keep you in our hearts and thoughts. And Michelle, our prayers and support are with you and your precious boys. Thank you for showing us what it looks like to have a persevering and unwavering faith even through the worst. You are a light in this world. ❤️

I remember Ben as a kind and very likable young man.  Loria and I,  and our children who knew Ben, were all very sorry to hear of his illness and passing. Condolences and prayers. to his family.
