I can't begin to imagine the pain of this loss. Wishing you some moments of comfort in the days ahead. I knew Ben as a thoughtful, witty, and deeply compassionate person who had already made great contributions to the world. I only wish I'd known him better. I always loved coming upon Barbara and Bonnie on Georgica Beach and learning about Ben's latest adventures and interests. On occasion, if Ben was there, I got to discuss our common interests and hear his unique POV, which was always a treat. One time I had the pleasure of going out in Montauk with the Kaplan-Rodney clan, and I remember sitting and talking quietly with Ben, who made me laugh. Such a brilliant, sweet, sensitive, and one-of-a-kind soul. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

While I never had the good fortune to know Ben that well, I got to know him very well through a most delightful way.... listening to his buddies, Emily Straus, Emily Wharton and Cole Yaverbaum talk about how smart and fun and kind he was, and how they each felt they could tell him anything and count on him for everything. That kind of friendship is rare and these gals knew it. It spoke volumes about how completely unique and special Ben was... to them, and to the world. We need Bens in the world. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Ben was my most cherished friend and an absolute joy. He was magnetic, generous, warm, and overwhelmingly funny. I will always be grateful for the years we spent "attached at the hip," calling to recap our favorite tv shows late into the night despite seeing each other in person a few hours later, spending as much time as possible in the middle of the dance floor at every party and concert, staying true to our eighth grade pact to be prom dates, and making a scene at countless diners (Ben was so popular, we always wound up bringing over more and more chairs to accommodate all his friends I doubling over in laughter together). He was so special to me and I miss him terribly. All my love to your family, who, like Ben, instantly embraced me and saved me a seat at family dinners and on the couch with our beloved tv shows.
