Ben's obituary
Benjamin James Henderson
July 20, 1975 – July 24, 2025
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Benjamin James Henderson, of Glenwood Springs Colorado, on July 24, 2025. Ben was born on July 20, 1975, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to James Ronald Henderson and Jamey Lee Blevins Henderson.
He is survived by his son, Evan Blake Henderson, and his former wife, Bridget Celeste Learn, siblings Katrin Lee Carl and Joseph Marion Henderson, and his mother, Jamey Lee Blevins. Ben was preceded in death by his father, James Ronald Henderson.
Ben grew up in Tulsa with siblings Katie and Joey, and they spent their days running around with all the neighborhood kids on 30th Place. Unforgettable shared memories include Sunday dinner at Memaws with all of the cousins, Colorado road trips and ski trips, and camping and canoe trips on the Buffalo River. Ben had a lifelong passion for music, especially classic heavy metal, and played guitar in several high school rock bands, including Marrow 95. Later in life, he passed his love of music and video games on to his son, Evan.
After graduating from Edison High School in 1993, Ben attended the University of Oklahoma to study business. He went on to build a long career as a Search Engine Optimization Consultant.
Some of Ben’s most memorable experiences came through music and the friendships that lasted from those early band days. Years later, he and a group of close friends reunited to record at Sun Studio in Memphis, where Elvis Presley, B.B. King, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison once stood. Using some of the same equipment as these legends, they spent time playing and recording songs from their youth.
Another highlight came when Marrow 95 opened for The Polyphonic Spree in 2015 at the Highline Ballroom in Manhattan. In this incredible venue they felt like they were 17 again. Even after years apart, when they were together, it was like no time had passed.
A memorial service is pending and will be announced at a later date. The family hopes you will honor Ben’s life by remembering your time with him. If you wish to make a gift in his memory, please consider donating to one of the following organizations that support mental health advocacy and care:
