Always looked up to Uncle Ben and loved him. He lived with us for a year when he was eighteen and my Dad (his oldest brother) was stationed in Colorado at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. My Dad was so proud of Uncle Ben and loved him as only a brother could.

We had great times when Uncle  Ben lived with us in Colorado pheasant  hunting at Rocky Mountain Arsenal and in the cornfields north of Denver. We spent a lot of time trout fishing in the mountains at Rangers Lake and Michigan Creek.

He always had a good looking girlfriend back then and had quite a way with the ladies. I will always remember how my brother Rick and I would sit behind Ben and his date when we went to the movies at the post theater. If we sat here long enough he would give us each a quarter to get lost and we would go buy a coke and popcorn with the money. I guess you could call that extortion.

I am so glad that I was able to visit him and Aunt Barbara  when they were at Fort McPherson and Ft. Bragg. After he retired as a Federal Game Warden  my wife Michele and I visited Uncle Ben at his home in Spring Lake while at Ft. Bragg attending  Change of Command Ceremonies.

Both our birthdays are in November a week apart. We always called each other over the years to wish each other a happy birthday and catch up.

Uncle Ben was a Patriot who proudly served his country honorably in Vietnam and was combat wounded.

Rest in peace Uncle Ben!
