We just saw you the day before man and we always chopped it up bout life and eventually seeing you in NC. What sucks is that i told you every meal would be on me from now on and it has only been one meal since. You were so good at making time for everyone and being invested in my life. I remember you coming to see me at the very first job i worked at and you told me how happy you were for me. Every time we caught up with each other you would ask about everyone in my life even if they didn’t even know who you were. You showed me music beyond my years and taught me soccer, basketball and lion dance. Seeing you guys at Phirom’s wedding all together was amazing and never would i have thought that was the last time as a group. Thank you for caring so much about us and being one of the biggest impact in my life. Love you ❤️

Heartbreak for all of us! Benji had collaborated with the Editorial Board of the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California's Gum Saan Journal for many years! He was an essential part of our volunteer team! He always was so generous with his expertise and time! He wrote the Editors' Introduction in our 2021 issue on "Resisting Racism." He stood with us in our mission to tell the Chinese American story.

Friends in the Chinese Historical Society also remember when Benji was teaching at Castelar in LA Chinatown - trying to empower the little kids! This was even before he went to UCLA. 

Our deepest deepest condolences to his beloved family. We very much feel this loss too.
