Belinda cared a great deal about helping underprivileged people who needed a hand to get started, but you better be ready to do your part too. In particular, she cared about children who needed a helping hand or even a mentor.  Belinda, like her mother, valued education.  She (and her mother) firmly believed that a good education would open doors for you.  She also viewed it as a prize in and of itself.  It was a game changer in her view, and she has fostered this love of learning in her grandbabies and even some other children I know.  Finally, Belinda was a very political person - a life long Republican with the facts to back up her position.  I have seen some unbelievable political debates between her and our brother.  (Side note.  She convinced him to vote for Richard Nixon; her arguments were that compelling.  Well, you know the rest of the story. Tony (brother) never forgave her that one.) I have never seen her waiver over her voting choice. Her mind was always made up early on. However, I will always wonder who she chose in this last presidential election. That is her private business, but I know she has been utterly disappointed in the current political climate with its layers of misinformation and lies.  Please don't miss this detail; she voted in the last election, even though truly unwell at that point.  She understood the demands of citizenship in a constitutional republic.
