Belinda's obituary

With heartfelt sympathy, we announce the gentle passing of Mrs. Belinda Michele Washington Frye on June 8, 2024. Born into this world on May 30, 1968, Belinda was a cherished matriarch whose radiant spirit and boundless love left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Belinda’s legacy is one of laughter, artistry, and profound love. Her quick wit, intricate personality, and creative soul will be fondly remembered by her children Ebony Peterson, Angel Bradley, Sade’ Frye, Brandi Frye, and Domonick Frye. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in her grandchildren Miya, Eva, Aylin, Hatay, Malakai, Zion, Aniyah, Jaleni, and Elle. She is also survived by her doting mother, Edna Washington, her dear aunt Lola Freeman, cousin Myesha Thornton, sister Lorita Waltz, and brothers Ronzel and Roderick Washington, Adam Reid, and Gerald Kearse.

Belinda was greeted in heaven by her mother Amelia Pryor, father Sammy Washington, and sister Zoelin Brown.

A beacon of creativity, Belinda’s passion for art was paralleled only by her devotion to her family. A proud graduate of Crossland High School, she channeled her talents into a successful career in multi-media art, celebrating a milestone when she booked her first wedding through her photography venture. Her creative pursuits were varied and vibrant, from designing lifelike “reborn” dolls, to making candles and ceramics, to working with resin, paint, and other mixed media to create unique masterpieces.

Belinda’s zest for life was evident in her love for games like Monopoly, Uno, and Spades, and her unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys, often accompanied by a can of Dr. Pepper. Her culinary favorites included succulent crab legs, and the films “Nell” and “The Fifth Element” held a special place in her heart. The melody of “Alabaster Box” by Cece Winans was a reflection of her soul, a tune she cherished deeply.

Belinda’s journey through life took her from Gordonsville, Virginia; to Greenbelt, Maryland; to Killeen, Texas. Each place she called home was enriched by her presence, and she carried the essence of these places with her as her journey continued.

Belinda’s wisdom to “always stand up for yourself” remains a guiding light for her loved ones. Her distinctive personality and resilient spirit will be forever etched in the memories of her family, who will continue to honor her life and cherish her memory.

Belinda’s life was a testament to her favorite saying, “I’m always going to be me!” This simple yet powerful declaration encapsulated her approach to life. Whether she was painting a canvas with bold strokes, capturing life’s fleeting moments through her lens, or standing her ground in a spirited game, Belinda was unapologetically herself. Her authenticity was magnetic, drawing people to her with her genuine nature and courage to live her life on her own terms.

Even in her final days, Belinda’s indomitable spirit shone through. She faced each challenge with grace and tenacity, reminding those around her that being true to oneself is the greatest gift we can offer the world. Her legacy is not just in the art she created or the memories she left behind, but in the example she set: to live boldly, love fiercely, and always, always be yourself.
