I worked with Belete for many years in the PICU at KU.  He was a great RT!  He was so kind to our patients of all ages.  He loved to update me on his girls.  He was so proud of them.  He was a great man!
I worked with Belete in my first 2 years as an RT. Belete was knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely one of the nicest RTs I've worked with. I am so saddened to hear of his passing.

I’m very sorry about Belete’s untimely passing. My sincere condolences to all his loved ones.
I am so sorry to hear of Belete’s passing. A beautiful soul inside and out. I met Belete when I was an equipment tech, and then was honored to have him as my clinical instructor then work beside him in Respiratory Therapy. Belete was such a genuine kind soul, he always went out of his way to check on me throughout the years. I will forever be thankful for that and our conversations about life. The last time I spoke to him I remember him saying how proud he was of his girls. He loved his family so much! He will definitely be missed at KU. My sincere condolence's to his family. May you all cherish the memories and hold them close to your heart.
I am Belete’s neighbor across the street and we met Belete shortly after moving in.  He was always so kind to our family.  He often brought us goodies from his garden and even showed us his beautiful oasis in his back yard.  We will miss seeing him out front taking care of his yard, his kind words and spirit.  My deepest condolences to his family as I know he was loved dearly by everyone!
The best kale in the world came from Belete’s garden. His talents, gentle temperament, and brilliance lives on in his daughter’s spirits and in our hearts. May he rest eternally with God.

This is very sad news. Very sorry for your loss. He was so vibrant & fun. A great person to have known & worked with.  May he rest in peace.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Belete was my RT clinical instructor at KCKCC in 2009. We work together at KU. He was kind, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. I was pregnant at the time when he was teaching and he was so gentle to me. He always had a smile on his face when I see him. We always had great conversations and so many encouraging words about my future in Respiratory. I remember the last time I spoke to him at KU in Team Heart and he had big smile on his face. We were talking about my plans to get my BS degree and he suggested to apply at KCKCC as the clinical instructor, I was following his foot steps. It’s really hard to accept that he is gone. He will always be my mentor, role model, and a good friend who I always care about it. Belete will be missed and always be remembered. 😢❤️
I am so sorry to hear this. Belete was such a kind and gentle person. My condolences to his family.
I worked with Belete as one of his equipment techs in the respiratory department at KU. He was a great person. I really learned a lot from him about gardening and would talk about kids and family. He was a great person and great mentor and would teach different aspects of the RT department. He’s definitely going to be missed at KU and left a great legacy there
I'm so sorry for your loss.  I've worked with Belete for the last 27 years and it has always been a pleasure. He was one of my first mentors in Burn and Peds and he was always ready to teach and help out.  I loved talking to him about my yard, garden and listening to is his advice on how to make it grow better or when to fertilizer the yard. He was so full of knowledge, gratitude and love for his family.  He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

I met Belete when I started working at KU in 2008. He helped trained me in heart hospital and he would end up becoming one of my favorite people to work with. I will forever cherish our great conversations about gardening, landscaping, sports, and investing. I will miss all the fascinating conversations, teaching and fresh vegetables he would bring in from his garden. It was a pleasure to know him and I know I’m a better person just for knowing him and being able to spend so much time with him at work.
I am so sorry to hear of Belete’s passing. I worked with him at KU in the SICU and CTICU. He was a kind soul. He was a very dedicated and professional RT. He was so helpful to me a new nurse. Rest in peace.

Karol Pineda Ruis
2018, Kansas City, KS, USA

My name is Karol,

I met Belete as my instructor in the respiratory therapy program at KCKCC. It was easy to connect with him because I am an immigrant myself. He always demonstrated great knowledge and an ability to share it with the students. I got the pleasure of traveling to Louisiana with him and other staff members and students for the AARC conference. It was a great time to learn and also get to know each other better. I always look at him as a great person outside him being my professor. The way he talked about his family was always with so much love, pride and joy. In 2021, I started to work at KU next to him, and it was a great experience to learn at bedside with him. I appreciate the opportunity to meet him, learn from him and share our immigration experiences in this country. I will always be grateful to him.

May loving memories ease your loss and bring you comfort. Wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow

I was fortunate enough to know Belete for 3 years.   Every moment I was around him was an absolute joy and blessing. Amanda
Belete was an incredible teacher and mentor at KU Med. He taught me a lot including having confidence in myself at work and outside of work. He taught me the recipe to make salad dressing from scratch and he would help me improve it so it got better every shift. He will be missed.
