Becky's obituary

Becky Lynn (Ray) Miller was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on November 14th, 2022 at the age of 65 after battling chronic health issues.

She was born to Charlene Curtsinger on May 2, 1957, in Fairdale, KY, and was adopted by her grandparents Thelma & Elmer Ray. After graduating from Fairdale High School, Becky moved to Lizella, Georgia to help look after her brother Robert Ray's children, Kathy, Wendy, and Scotty. While living in Lizella, she met her former husband, Harry L. Miller Jr. Together, they had a daughter, Kaylyn Miller-Benson, and helped raise two foster sons Kenneth Long and Daniel Johns.

Becky loved spending time in the kitchen, not only creating delicious meals for her family, but even running her own catering company she prepared food for weddings, parties, and anniversaries. She was known for her infectious love for Halloween and threw crazy Halloween Parties for the whole community. Neighborhood children would gather around the kitchen table for after-school snacks and loved listening to Becky's hilarious anecdotes. She was a skilled artisan who painted, sketched, sewed, and upholstered anything and everything. Most weekends were spent as a volunteer at her church and for many years she cooked Wednesday Night supper alongside her brother Robert Ray and Nephew Chris Charmichael. She was an avid and dedicated volunteer and substitute teacher for the Macon-Bibb County School System as well as a volunteer for the Board of Elections. She helped run a successful campaign of our former State Superintendent Lynn Farmer to better our schools, and pioneered the billing and coding handbook for the Heart Tower located in Downtown Macon's Atrium Medical Center.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Thelma & Elmer Ray, her mother Charlene Curtsinger, her brothers Christopher and Robert Ray, and her foster son Daniel Johns. Becky is survived by her brother Lanny Curtsinger, her sisters Karen Pack, Roxanna Rogers, Martha Hernandez, and Rhonda Wilson, her foster son Kenneth Long, her daughter Kaylyn Elizabeth Miller-Benson, her grandsons Ira Joseph Lee Benson, Emlyn Alexander Lee Benson, and Archie Ray Miller Benson, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

There will be no service or viewing. Per Becky's wishes, she is to be cremated and her ashes spread at her childhood home on Holsclaw Hill. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Macon-Bibb County Friends of the Library.
