Beatriz's obituary
In the ensuing years, she and Joe dedicated themselves to providing the best education possible for their seven children. They started out in Guayaquil, where Tish gave birth their four eldest children and moved to the Boston area where the three youngest were born. They then moved to Lima, Peru, for a brief spell and then to Cuenca, Ecuador. They would spend the 70s in Madrid, Spain, and then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where many dear relatives from both sides of the family lived. They retired to Princeton NJ, where Joe passed away in 2006. In her widowed years, she travelled as much as she could and lived in London, England, then New York City and eventually Spring, Texas
Wherever she lived, she proved to be a formidable force as she engaged in charitable, academic and cultural initiatives. As a volunteer, she was a respected role model who dedicated herself heartfully and thoughtfully to the task at hand, whether it be fund raising for a school event, providing meals on wheels, orchestrating a cultural event or delivering emergency supplies following a natural disaster. Her hands-on approach was admired by many and she earned the respect of those communities in which she lived.
At the age of 95, she had outlived her husband of 51 years, her parents Lautaro Aspiazu Carbo and Elena Wright Vallarino; younger siblings Lautaro Aspiazu Wright and Patricia Benites Wright, as well as other beloved relatives in Ecuador and New Orleans.
She is survived by her seven children: Antoinette Brooke (Geoffrey) of Philadelphia, PA; Joseph W. Montgomery III (María Leonor) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Terrell Montgomery (+Francisco Fernández de Gamboa) of Urrugne France; Lautaro Montgomery (Suzanne) of Spring, TX; Thomas Montgomery (Kathleen McNamara) of Chevy Chase, MD, Andrew Montgomery (Camilla) of Southsea, England; Helene Marie Shafran (Jacob) of London, England. She was the proud grandmother of 18: Geoffrey and Emily Brooke, Lillian Montgomery Haynes, Joseph Montgomery IV, Katherine Montgomery Simon, Patrick and Anne Montgomery, Beatriz Fernández de Gamboa Goldman, James, Charles, Robert, John Christian, Theodore, Henry, Augustus, Sebastian, and Lavinia Montgomery and Harry Shafran. And she cherished the arrival of each of her Great-grandchildren, nine to date with another one on the way. Her legacy is guaranteed to continue.
