Barry will be missed by Deborah and me. Fond memories of dining with. Barry and Mel and golf games. Particularly the 18 th hole at NGC a few years ago where Barry made Eagle. We never forgot that shot mostly because he would mention it every time he played the 18th 😀😀 miss you buddy. Prayers for your family

To Melissa and Peter, our thoughts are with you as we remember the great Barry La Valley.
Barry had a huge impact on our team and our clients and presented for us many times.
He was so generous and encouraging. He spent many hours with me, coaching and working on ideas together so we could improve the lives of those entering retirement.
He was a passionate advocate for fee-only financial advice and helped many of our young professionals on their journey to become first rate advisers.
Melissa we occasionally got to say hello over zoom and I know Barry’s passing will leave a huge hole for you. Thank you for sharing Barry with us and supporting his passion for life.

Mel & Peter, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Barry was an incredible human being and I am grateful for the short time I got to spend with him this year in New Zealand and Australia. He was a force of nature, and such a kind and loving man. I am so grateful that I got to know the man who brought joy to every person he met.

So sorry to hear of Barry’s passing. Proud to have called Barry my friend, co-collaborator and co-author. Loved spending time with him gaining insights and different perspectives. Enjoyed spending time with him in Australia and New Zealand, and often at my home where he was most welcome and often stayed. Great to introduce him to new words, sayings, and slang 'downunder', and to foreign concepts like Australian Rules Football, and Cricket (that he could never get his head around). He has touched many lives. Mel & Peter, my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Mel, I am so, so, sorry to hear of Barry’s passing. I think you know, and I hope he knew, how fond I was of him. I am so sad that he is gone, but feel fortunate to have known him, and to call him a friend. Thinking of you Mel💕

Barry - Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thank you for the gift of your friendship, for your roles in my life as teacher, mentor, bullsh*t detector and truthteller. Saying thank you is so much easier than saying goodbye.
What a life you led! Gifted athlete, internationally known speaker, published author, world traveler. You single-handedly changed the conversation for people headed into retirement from “how much is enough” to “what’s next”? Those many accomplishments are impressive, but I know the roles that were truly closest to your heart were husband, father, and friend. I think Mel and Peter can both attest that you excelled at husband and father, and I can speak to your steadfast loyalty as a friend.
There are so many ways in which you have been a model worth emulating of how to live life well – with humor, tenacity, optimism, and kindness. My mother would remark at funerals - “there they go, trying to make a saint out of a sinner!” I think we know you were no saint, just a mere mortal doing your very best. In true Barry fashion you are also gave us a model of dying well. With grace and courage and care for those closest to you. Barry, I hold you in my heart, always.
Thank you for being my friend.
