Barry's obituary

Barry Lee Gorr, born on November 22, 1962, passed away on August 4, 2024, at the age of 61. He was the beloved son of the late Raymond William Gorr and Clara Meter Gorr.

Barry was a man who brought light and laughter wherever he went. Known for his infectious sense of humor, he was always quick with a joke or a silly comment to brighten the day. Making people laugh was his mission in life, and he succeeded effortlessly, often leaving those around him laughing so hard their stomachs would hurt. His positivity was unwavering; Barry never complained and always saw the best in life, spreading that optimism to everyone he met.

Barry worked as a dedicated truck driver for Godiva Chocolate until a major workplace injury ended his career. A few years later, he endured a traumatic brain injury from a motorcycle accident, which left him on disability for the last 20 years of his life. Despite these challenges, Barry embraced “the small things” in life with a smile on his face, finding joy in bringing laughter to everyone’s hearts.

His greatest achievements in life were having over 300 professional skydiving jumps, (with even getting to land on the home plates of professional sports fields), and raising all of his children, a role he took on with immense pride and dedication. Barry's love for his children and grandchildren was all he ever talked about, his children were his most cherished accomplishments.

He is survived by his brother, Arthur Gorr, and his six children: Chad Gorr, Leah Gorr, Nicole Hall (married to Chris Hall), Mario Concordia, Skylar Steiner (married to Travis Steiner), and Jarid Gorr. Barry was also the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Isabella Brown, Maison Gorr, Elysia Steiner, Lucas Gorr, Sophia Concordia, Preston Onisa, and Owen Steiner.

Barry's legacy is one of joy, laughter, and love. His family and friends will forever cherish the way he could light up a room and turn any situation into something to laugh about. While his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on through the countless smiles and memories he created.

A service to honor Barry’s memory will be held at 10:00am, September 18, 2024 at Auman's Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606 . The burial ceremony at Forest Hills Cemetery, just across the street, will follow at 11:30am, with a luncheon immediately afterwards. The family requests that if you have any pictures of their father, to please bring copies of those or videos of Barry, (as the kids don’t have any of him from before he was in his 40s), wear your funniest T-shirt or an AC/DC T-shirt if you have one.

Barry Lee Gorr may no longer be with us, but the laughter and happiness he brought into the world will echo in our hearts forever.
