Barry's obituary

Barry Andre Jackson, a shining star, passed away at age 68 on July 13, 2024, at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara, CA, leaving a legacy of love, laughter and inspiration. Born on June 13, 1956, in San Diego, CA, to Vivan F. Jackson and Edward L. Jackson, Barry was the third of six children. His family's California journey took him to San Francisco; North Richmond, then to Silicon Valley where he nurtured his passion for basketball that shined prior to graduating from Samuel Ayer High School in Milpitas, CA.

In 1978, Barry joined the Army National Guard in San Diego for training, followed by four years of service in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Barry’s remarkable life featured his dedication to his family and his work as a supervisor for the County of Santa Clara and the Intel Corporation. His infectious laughter and joy will be deeply missed. He found spiritual peace through his baptism on August 11, 2012, in San Jose. As a loving Father and Papa, he embodied selflessness and devotion.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Steven Bernard Scott, and his daughter, Barryeana Jackson (age six months).

Cherishing fond and loving memories of Barry are his wife, Joyce Lawton; his children Mario Linear, Regina Jackson (Travis), Sylvia Jackson-Pettis (Damian), Jimmy Jackson, Courtney Winslett, and Andrea Jackson; and his siblings Harriet Renay Guy (Glenn), Juan Jackson (Debra), Frank Scott (Cleo) and Bruce Scott. Barry was blessed to enjoy his grandchildren Trei’von Woods (Tiffany), Jason King Jr., Frankie Valdez, Julie Linear, Talyah Pettis (JaJuan), Tyler Pettis, Trinity Pettis, AJ Jackson, Hailey Jackson, Chanel Watkins, and Aminah Flores and his great grandchildren Anea King, Jajuan “Pop” Tucker Jr., Alayah King, Joshua Tucker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends near and far.
